FANTOM-6/FANTOM-7/FANTOM-8 System Program ( Ver.2.50 )


HOW TO KNOW THE VERSION
Before you start, check the system program version of your FANTOM-6 / FANTOM-7 / FANTOM-8.
  1. Press [ MENU ] to invoke the MENU screen.
  2. Touch < SYSTEM >.
  3. Turn the [ E1 ] FUNCTION knob to select INFO.
    The display changes to the INFO screen and the version information is shown.
* If this shows the latest version, there's no need to update your FANTOM-6 / FANTOM-7 / FANTOM-8.

[ Additional Functions ]
  • A Virtual ToneWheel sound module has been added (ZONE 2 only).

  • You can now select a ZONE to play using RHYTHM PATTERN.
  • USB IN and USB OUT parameters have been added to MIXER.

[ Additional Functions ]
  • A MODEL sound module has been added.
  • Four MODEL EXPANSION sounds (EXM001 through EXM004) are now supported.
  • EXPORT SAMPLE operations (EXPORT operations for KEYBOARD SAMPLE data) are now supported.
[ Functionality Improvements ]
  • The Original Key value is now inferred from the file name when importing a KEYBOARD SAMPLE.
  • It is now possible to IMPORT and EXPORT TONE values that use KEYBOARD SAMPLE or MULTISAMPLE data.
  • It is now possible to select the MODEL tone when performing an IMPORT or EXPORT operation for a TONE.
  • In TONE EDIT, changing a Partial Pitch Coarse Tune value now retriggers sound production.
  • Improvements have been made to the accuracy of MIDI clock synchronization for effects when the Sync Mode is set to SLAVE.
[ Bug Fix ]
The following bug was fixed.
  • Changing the SCALE TONE parameter disables the SCENE even when it has been saved.
  • The displayed PAD MODE value sometimes fails to match the actual state.
  • In Import to Pad, the import operation fails to function correctly when a folder is selected.
  • In Microscope, Automation events fail to function correctly.
  • In Microscope, the display fails to be refreshed when a note is pasted.
  • In Microscope, the cursor view is displayed incorrectly when a note's Duration value is changed.
  • In Microscope, the full view at the top right of the screen fails to be refreshed when a note's Duration value is changed.
  • The wrong note is displayed when Microscope is accessed while a changed value for Loop Start is in effect.
  • During REALTIME RECORDING, the recording for the HOLD pedal fails to be displayed correctly.
  • During TONE EDIT, the image fails to change when the TONE Category is changed.
  • The "To ZOOM" button is displayed incorrectly at the EFFECT screen.
  • Touching "To ZOOM" at the EFFECT screen yields a transition to an unintended screen.
  • In Scene Chain, the Scene Name and Scene Memo for an unselected Scene are displayed.
  • In Scene Chain Edit, Markers can be set while Next is selected.
  • The LEDs for the E1 through E6 knobs under the Master EQ screen fail to light up.

[ Bug Fixes ]
The following bugs were fixed.
  • When an SMF is imported into PATTERN, some MIDI messages are not read in correctly.
  • System lockup sometimes occurs in performances when the level is changed frequently using the slider during realtime recording (Real Time REC).
  • When no EXZ title or user sample has been used in the past, importing a sample results in an error.
  • "Partial Phrase Lock" parameter is not displayed.

[ Bug Fix ]

  • In SCENE CHAIN, information fails to be displayed correctly when a SCENE is deleted from a SET.

Support for Sound Content Distributed Via Roland Cloud
Installation of Sound Pack and Wave Expansion distributed through Roland Cloud is supported.
* Sound Pack and Wave Expansion are sound content usable on products equipped with the ZEN-Core Synthesis System.

  • Roland Cloud is now supported.
  • ZEN-Core SCENE IMPORT and EXPORT functions are provided.
  • SuperNATURAL Acoustic Piano/Electric Piano expansion sounds (EXSN01 and EXSN02) are now supported.

  • The PANIC function has been improved. Stopping Samples is also carried out.
    PANIC function: Pressing the [SHIFT] + [EXIT] buttons transmits an All Note Off message to all parts.

  • Searching for a SCENE corrupts the display in the PAD MODE window.
  • Sound is prone to drop-out during ARPEGGIO playback.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO UPDATE
  • FANTOM-6 / FANTOM-7 / FANTOM-8
  • USB Memory
    * The USB Memory need to be formatted on a FANTOM-6 / FANTOM-7 / FANTOM-8.

GETTING THE UPDATE FILE
Please open/extract the downloaded "fantom678_sys_v250.zip" file on your computer to get the update file in the "fantom678_sys_v250" folder.

PROCEDURE FOR THE UPDATE
Caution
  • You must not rename the extracted files.
  • Never turn off the FANTOM-6 / FANTOM-7 / FANTOM-8's power while the update is in progress.
Creating the Update USB Memory
  1. Copy all files inside the "fantom678_sys_v250" folder to the USB flash memory's root directory (the level displayed immediately after opening the device).

Update Procedure
  1. Connect the USB Memory to the USB MEMORY port.
  2. Hold down the [ WRITE ] button and turn on the power.
    The message "preparing for update..." appears at the top of the display, and the initial update starts.
    * Continue to hold down the [ WRITE ] button until "preparing for update..." appears on the display.
    * The update operation takes about 2 minutes.
  3. After confirming that the message "Update (board1) End..." has been displayed, detach the USB flash memory without turning off the power.
    * Do not turn off the power.
  4. Connect the USB flash memory to any one of the EXT DEVICE jacks (1, 2, or 3).
    The message "Running Update..." appears at the bottom of the display, and the update starts again.
    * The update requires about 5 minutes.
  5. After confirming that the message "Update (board2) End..." has been displayed, turn off the power.
    Detach the USB Memory from the FANTOM-6 / FANTOM-7 / FANTOM-8.

    This completes the update operation. The new system program runs at the next startup.
    Follow the procedure for verifying the version to verify that the version has been updated.
