SE-02 System Program (Ver.1.11)


How to know the version
Before you start, check the system program version of your SE-02.
  1. Hold down [EXIT] button switch on the power to the unit.
    The unit enters System Settings.
  2. Pressing the [ 16 ] button makes the current version information appear on the display.
  3. After determining the version, turn off the power to the SE-02.

What you will need to update your SE-02
  • SE-02
  • AC Adaptor
  • Micro USB cable (Dedicated charging cables cannot be used.)
  • A computer with a USB connector ( Windows, Mac )
 
Caution when performing the update
  • Never apply this update data to any product other than the SE-02. This update data may destroy the data or system program of other products.
  • Never power-off your SE-02 while the update is in progress!
    If a power failure or similar accident occurs during the update process, the SE-02 won’t be able to start up in normal operating mode. This will require servicing, so you will need to contact Roland service center near you if this occurs.
  • We regret that we are unable to answer questions regarding the update procedure using this system program. Please perform the update responsibly, following the directions given in this document.

Getting the update file
Please open/extract the downloaded "se02_sys_111.zip" file on your computer to get the update file in the "se02_sys_111" folder.

Procedure for the update
Caution
  • You must not rename the extracted file.
  • Never turn off the SE-02's power while the update is in progress. Otherwise the system program or the SE-02 itself may be destroyed.

Please install the extracted system program file into your SE-02 according to the following procedure.
  1. Hold down [ 8 ] button and switch on the power.
    The message "Connect to your PC" appears on the display.
  2. Connect the computer to the SE-02's USB port by a USB cable.
    The message "Copy the update file" appears on the display.
  3. Open the "SE-02" drive folder in your personal computer.
  4. Copy SE02_UPD.BIN in the "se02_sys_111" folder into the "SE-02" drive by dragging and dropping it.
    * Do not copy the "se02_sys_111" folder.
  5. After copying the file is completed, remove the USB drive from the personal computer.
    With Windows
    Right-click on the "SE-02" icon in My Computer and execute "Eject."
    With macOS / OS X
    Drag the "SE-02" icon to the Trash icon in the Dock.
  6. Disconnect the USB cable.
    The message "Push the manual button" appears on the display, and the MANUAL button flashes.
  7. Pressing the [ MANUAL ] button starts the update.
    The message "Updating" appears on the display, and the 1 through 16 buttons light up in succession.
  8. When the message "Finish" appears on the display and all buttons flash in green, the update is complete. (*1)
  9. Turn the SE-02 power off.
  10. On turning on the power for the first time after updating, follow the steps below to on carry out the "Automatic Tuning Function (PITCH CALIBRATION)" procedure.
    * When you turn on the power for the first time after updating, the TEMPO LED and GATE LED might flash. This is not a malfunction; without turning off the power, wait for the unit to start up.
    1. Set the mode select switch to "PATCH."
    2. Hold down the [TRANSPOSE] button and press the [VALUE] knob.
      The display indicates "Start tuning ?"
    3. Press the [VALUE] knob.

*1:If the update fails, the message "Error" appears on the display and all buttons flash in red. Carry out the update a second time.
