FP-E50 System Program (Ver.1.20)


How to know the version
Before you start, check the system program version of your FP-E50.
 
  1. Press the [ Menu ] button.
  2. Press the [ ] button and select "Information."
  3. Press the [ Enter ] button.
    The version information is displayed.
    If this shows the latest version (version 1.20 or later), there's no need to update your FP-E50.
  4. Press the [ Exit ] button.

Bug Fixes
The following bugs have been fixed.
  • USB Audio IN was sent back to USB Audio OUT.
  • Mic FX Volume went low when powering on with the "Keyboard" slider turned down.
  • Proper message and error number did not appear when an error occurred.
  • Warning message did not appear when you rename Song with an invalid name on.
  • Style Pack names were not proper.
  • Minor bugs have been fixed.

What you will need to update your FP-E50
  • FP-E50
  • USB Memory
    * The USB Memory need to be formatted on a FP-E50 or formatted to FAT32 or MS-DOS(FAT) on a computer in advance.
  • A computer with a USB connector ( Windows, Mac )
  • Update file downloaded from this page
 
Cautions with the update
  • When first power-on after the update from Ver1.01, initialize operation takes about 30 seconds.
    It is not failure that takes a long time to first start up.
  • We recommend that you save your user data to a USB memory before you perform the update. If a problem occurs and your user data is lost, you will be able to restore the original state by reloading the data you saved. For details on the procedure, refer to the following sections of the Owner's Manual.

  • Never power-off your FP-E50 while the update is in progress!
    If a power failure or similar accident occurs during the update process, the won't be able to start up in normal operating mode. This will require servicing, so you will need to contact Roland service center near you if this occurs.
  • We regret that we are unable to answer questions regarding the update procedure using this system program. Please perform the update responsibly, following the directions given in this document.
 
Getting the update file
It is an archive file in zip format, please double click on the file to expand. After expanding the file, the folder "fpe50_sys_v120" holding the file "R082_UPA.BIN" will be appeared.
 
Procedure for the update
Creating the Update USB Memory
  1. Copy update files R082_UPA.BIN to the root directory of a USB Memory.

Update Procedure
  1. Connect the USB Memory to the USB memory port on the instrument.
  2. Hold down the [ Mic Fx ] button and turn on the power to the instrument.
    The message " ===update=== " appears on the display, and the update operation starts.
    * Continue to hold down the [ Mic Fx ] button until " ===update=== " appears on the display.
  3. When the message " ===update finished.=== " appears, the update operation has finished.
    * The update operation takes about 5 minutes.
  4. Press and hold the power button to turn off the power.
    Detach the USB Memory from the instrument.
