Mobile UA System Update Ver.2.02

This is the latest version of operating system for the Mobile UA.

How to know the driver's version

Before you start, check the system program version of your Mobile UA.

After connecting the Mobile UA to the computer, follow the procedure below to start "Device Setting Panel."
Windows
Open "Control Panel" and change the view to "Small icons," click the [UA-M10] icon.
Mac
Open the system preferences, click the [UA-M10] icon, click the [UA-M10] icon.
The version is displayed at the bottom of the window.
If the Ver.2 driver is not installed, then install the latest version of the driver.

* If this shows the latest version, there’s no need to update your Mobile UA.

How to know the Mobile UA's version

After connecting the Mobile UA to the computer, follow the procedure below to start "Device Setting Panel."
Windows
Open "Control Panel" and change the view to "Small icons." click the [UA-M10] icon, and then click the device settings button.
Mac
Open the system preferences, click the [UA-M10] icon, and then click the device settings button.
The current version is displayed at the bottom left of the window.

* If this shows the latest version, there’s no need to update your Mobile UA.

Two types of "Output Mode" settings were added.
2 channel (A:phones, B:line out)
The same sound is output from both the Headphone A jack and the Headphone B / LINE OUT jack. However, the volume can be adjusted only for the Headphone A jack.
2 channel (A:Right, B:Left, balanced)
Choose this setting if you're using headphones with a balanced connection. The Headphone A jack outputs the sound of the right channel, and the Headphone B / LINE OUT jack outputs the sound of the left channel.
An attenuator was added to the Headphones B/LINE OUT connector output for "Output Mode : 4 channel (A:phones, B:line out)."

What you will need to update your Mobile UA

Mobile UA
A personal computer which can run the SMF players ("UpdSMF")
USB Cable

Caution when performing the update

If you update on the normal mode of Mobile UA against the correct procedrue, this update data may destroy the system program.
Never power-off your Mobile UA while the update is in progress!
If a power failure or similar accident occurs during the update process, the Mobile UA won’t be able to start up in normal operating mode. This will require servicing, so you will need to contact Roland service center near you if this occurs.
We regret that we are unable to answer questions regarding the update procedure using this system program. Please perform the update responsibly, following the directions given in this document.

Getting the update file

Please open/extract the downloaded "uam10_sys_v202.zip" file on your computer to get the update files named "m0000001.mid - m0000004.mid" in the "uam10_sys_v202" folder.

Procedure for the update

Follow the procedure shown below to install the unarchived system program in the Mobile UA.
* Be very sure never to turn off the power to the Mobile UA while the update is in progress.

Install Mobile UA Driver Ver.2.
* If Mobile UA Driver Ver.1 is installed, first uninstall the version 1 driver, and then install the version 2 driver.
* If you're using Windows 10, then depending on factors such as Internet connection status, automatic driver installation (update) might not be performed. In such cases, use the procedure described below to install the driver.
1. Use a USB cable to connect the Mobile UA to your computer.
2. Right-click the start button and then click "Device Manager".
3. In the View menu, click "Devices by type".
4. Click "Sound, video and game controllers" or "Other devices" to display the UA-M10 device.
5. When the UA-M10 device appears, right-click it, and then select "Update Driver Software".
6. Select "Search automatically for updated driver software".
  Your PC starts searching for the driver, and the driver is installed automatically.
  
  The installation is completed if the "Windows has successfully updated your driver software" message is displayed. Click "Close".
  If the "System Settings Change" dialog box appears, click [Yes] to restart Windows.
Hold down the [ - ] button and connect the USB cable.
Within 1 second, release the [-] button and press the [ + ] button.
Verify that the level meter lights up while slowly moving from left to right.
* If the level meter goes dark, repeat the procedure from step 2.
Double-click "UpdSMF" displayed on the screen to start the UpdSMF.
Set MIDI Out Device to UA-M10 CTRL.
Click [ Path ] (click [ Select... ] for Mac) on "UpdSMF" and specify the location where the update file (m0000001.mid - m0000004.mid) is from SMF Path (SMF Folder for Mac). Then, click the [ OK ] button.
Click [ Scan SMF ] (unnecessary for Mac) to check that the update file (m0000001.mid - m0000004.mid) is displayed in the file list.
Click Send.
Sending of the update program starts.
When the Mobile UA's entire Level/Volume indicator blinks up, the update is complete.
* The update is not complete when UpdSMF displays the message "Send SMF/Complete."
Click [ OK ] on the Send SMF/Complete dialog box (the Complete Update dialog box for Mac) of "UpdSMF".
Click [ Exit ] (click [ Quit ] for Mac) of the "UpdSMF" to exit "UpdSMF".
Disconnect the USB cable to end the update.
Please verify the version number "2.02" with the procedure described in "How to know the version" part of this document.

In no event shall Roland Corporation be liable to end-users for any damages whatsoever, including but not limited to financial damages for any loss of profits or information arising from the use of, or inability to use this updater. The foregoing provision is effective even if Roland Corporation has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

This is a legal agreement between you (an individual or a corporation) and Roland Corporation (herein referred to as "Roland") regarding the usage of this software product (herein referred to as "SOFTWARE"). Please read carefully the terms of this License Agreement before installing or using the SOFTWARE. By installing, copying, or starting the use of the SOFTWARE, you hereby consent to the terms of this License Agreement.

1. GRANT OF LICENSE

Roland grants you the following non-exclusive rights to use the SOFTWARE in accordance with the terms of this License Agreement.
(a) You may only use the SOFTWARE on a specific single computer at one time. Use of the SOFTWARE shall include loading the SOFTWARE into temporary memory (i.e., RAM) or installing the SOFTWARE into storage media (i.e., hard disk) of the computer on which you will use the SOFTWARE.
(b) You may make one copy of the SOFTWARE for backup purposes only (on floppy disk, magneto optical disk, DAT or the similar media), but you are prohibited to make any other copy.

2. COPYRIGHT

The SOFTWARE and its copyrights are the property of Roland and are protected by all international copyright laws and treaties.
Therefore, you must treat the SOFTWARE like any other copyrighted material (i.e., a book or a CD). All rights that are not provided for herein are reserved by Roland.

3. OTHER RESTRICTIONS

(a) You shall not modify, change, reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the SOFTWARE and the copyright notice and copyrighted logo.
Unauthorized copying, uploading to another network, distributing, modifying and/or attaching this software to other media or any other sales item is expressly forbidden.
(b) You shall not loan, rent, lease, sublicense or transfer the SOFTWARE, either in whole or in part, to any third party. But you may permanently transfer the SOFTWARE and accompanying printed materials provided you retain no copies of the Software and recipient agrees to the terms of this License Agreement. If the SOFTWARE has been updated or upgraded, any transfer of the SOFTWARE must include the most recent update and all prior versions.
(c) If this SOFTWARE contains multiple templates of media (such as floppy disks and CD-ROM) and these media contain the same software, you may use only the one form of media that is appropriate for your computer. You shall not use the remaining form(s) of media on another computer.
(d) You may not use the Software from multiple locations of a multi-user or networked system at any time.

3.2 Open source software and other third party software
(a) The SOFTWARE may use open source software and other third party software (herein referred to as "OSS, etc.").
(b) The OSS, etc. in the case of the preceding paragraph shall be subject to the OSS, etc. license (herein referred to as "OSS License"), and you shall comply with the OSS License.
(c) If there are any differences between the terms of this License Agreement and the OSS License, the OSS License shall prevail and the terms of this License Agreement shall not apply.

4. NO WARRANTY

Roland makes no warranty, either expressed or implied, with respect to any of the software, including, without limitation, any implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.

5. NO LIABILITY

Roland can not reply to inquiries regarding this system software updater. Please read the instructions completely, and please note that you should use the SOFTWARE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
In no event shall Roland be liable to end-users for any damages whatsoever, including but not limited to financial damages for any loss of profits or information arising from the use of, or inability to use this product. The foregoing provision is effective even if Roland has been advised of the possibility of such damages. Even if the SOFTWARE has any material, verifiable, and reproducible program errors, Roland shall have no liability to modify such errors.

6. TERMINATION OF THE LICENSE

Roland reserves the right to terminate this License Agreement if you fail to comply with any of the terms of this License Agreement. Upon such termination, you shall immediately stop using the SOFTWARE.

7. GENERAL

(a) Any provision of this Agreement which is prohibited or unenforceable in any jurisdiction shall be ineffective to the extent of such prohibition or unenforceability without affecting, impairing or invalidating the remaining provisions hereof.
(b) This License Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of State of California without reference to the principles of conflicts of laws.
