TD-30 System Program (Ver.1.13)
Important Nortice
When you use the "TD-30 System Program Version 1.10 or later" with connecting to your computer via USB, you need to use the following USB Drivers.
This version or later cannot work with the "TD-30 USB MIDI Driver."

How to tell the version
Please check the version of the system working on your TD-30 before downloading the archive file.
- Press the [ SETUP ] button.
The [ SETUP ] button will light, and the SETUP A screen will appear. - Press the [ F5 ] button to display the "SETUP C" screen.
- Press the [ F4 ] ( INFO ) button.
The INFO screen will appear. - Press the [ F5 ] ( VERSION ) button.
The version information screen appears. - Turn TD-30 off after checking the version.
* Don't perform the update if the product is already up-to-date.

- Five new Trigger Type selection are available: "RT30K", "RT30HR", "RT30H_SN", "RT30H_TM", and "KT10."
<Details of two Trigger Types for RT-30H>RT30H_SN: Suitable when the RT-30H is mounted on a snare drum.
RT30H_TM: Suitable when the RT-30H is mounted on toms. - Advanced Noise Cancel Parameter is added, specific for the use of "RT-30K" and "RT-30HR."

- Hi-Hat Behavior with the MIDI Note Number
The TD-30 will trigger the sound of "HI-HAT Edge (RIM)" without that of "HI-HAT Bow (HEAD)" when you setup the MIDI Note Number of "Closed" for "HI-HAT Edge (RIM)."

The following bugs were fixed.
[ Ver.1.10 ]
- Added "BT1" and "BT1 SENS" to the Trigger Type.
Trigger Type: BT1
This trigger type is used for triggering one sound, or when using the BT-1 as a switch for pattern playback etc.
Trigger Type: BT1 SENS
This trigger type allows good response from the BT-1 when playing softly or with dynamics.
* However, crosstalk may occur when playing the surrounding pads.
The following bugs were fixed.
- You cannot choose "AMBIENCE SW" and "MFX SW" for the USER Pad Switch Functions.
- The TD-30 hangs up when it receives the MIDI System Exclusive Message which includes huge data in one message.
- Supported USB Audio.

What you will need to update your TD-30
- TD-30
- USB Memory ( Roland's M-UF2G is recommended )
* The USB Memory need to be formatted on a TD-30. - A computer with a USB connector (Windows, Mac)
Cautions with the update
- Never apply this update data to any product other than the TD-30. This update data may destroy the data or system program of other products.
- Never turn-off your TD-30 while the update is in progress!
If a power failure or similar accident occurs during the update process, the TD-30 won’t be able to start up in normal operating mode. This will require servicing, so you will need to contact Roland service center near you if this occurs. - We regret that we are unable to answer questions regarding the update procedure using this system program. Please perform the update responsibly, following the directions given in this document.
Getting the update file
Please open/extract the downloaded "td30_sys_v113.zip" file on your computer to get the update files in the "td30_sys_v113" folder.
Procedure for the update
CAUTION
Save your user data to a USB memory before you perform the update.
You will be able to restore the original state by reloading the data you saved.
Please refer to the following procedure to install the extracted system program to your TD-30.
Step 1 : Uninstall the TD-30 USB MIDI Driver
If you install the TD-30 USB MIDI Driver to your computer, uninstall it.

- Start up Windows with all USB cables disconnected.
( except for keyboard and mouse ) - Exit all applications before you begin the uninstallation.
- Open "Control Panel" and click "Add or Remove Programs."
- In the list, choose "TD-30 USB MIDI Driver", and click "Change/Remove."
- The display will indicate "The installed TD-30 USB MIDI Driver will be uninstalled." and click the [ OK ].
* If any other message appears, follow the directions of the message. - When the message "Uninstallation was completed." is displayed, click [ OK ] to restart Windows.
[ Mac ]
- Start computer with all USB cables disconnected.
( except the keyboard and mouse ) - Double-click "Uninstaller."
- The display will indicate "This uninstalls TD-30 USB MIDI driver from this Mac."; click [Uninstall].
* If any other message appears, proceed as directed by that message. - The display will indicate "Are you sure you want to uninstall the driver?"; click [OK].
- A dialog box will ask you for a password; enter your password and click [OK].
- The display will indicate "Uninstllation is completed."; click [Restart]. Your computer will then restart.
* It may take some time for restarting the computer.
Step 2 : Formatting USB Memory
* When you format a USB memory, all data stored in it will be erased.
- Turn on TD-30.
- Connect a USB memory to the "USB MEMORY port".
- Press the [ USB MEM ] button.
The [USB MEM] button will light, and the USB MEMORY A screen will appear. - Press the [F5] (A<>B) button.
The USB MEMORY B screen will appear. - Press the [F4] (FORMAT) button.
The USB FORMAT screen will appear. - Press the [F5] (FORMAT) button.
A confirmation message will appear.
If you decide to cancel, press the [F1] (CANCEL) button. - Press the [F5] (EXECUTE) button.
The format operation will be executed.
Step 3 : Backing Up All Data to a USB Flash Drive (SAVE)
- Turn on TD-30.
- Connect a USB memory to the "USB MEMORY port".
- Press the [ USB MEM ] button.
The [USB MEM] button will light, and the USB MEMORY A screen will appear. - Press the [F1] (SAVE) button.
The USB SAVE screen will appear. - Use the [ - ] [ + ] buttons or the dial to select the backup number in which you want to save your settings.
Backup number that contain no data are indicated by a "*" preceding the backup name. - Press the [ F5 ] (SAVE) button.
A confirmation message will appear.
* If you decide to cancel, press the [F1] (CANCEL) button. - Press the [ F5 ] (EXECUTE) button.
Your data will be saved on the USB flash drive.
Step 4 : Creating the USB memory for update
- Connect the USB memory to the USB connector of your computer.
- Copy the all update files in the above to the root folder of the USB memory.
* Do not copy the "td30_sys_v113" folder. - Disconnect the USB memory from your computer as follows.
[ Windows ]
Use the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the Windows task tray to un-mount the USB memory. And then disconnect the USB memory from your computer.
[ Mac ]
Drag the Drive icon of the USB memory into the trash in the dock. And then remove the USB memory from your computer.
Step 5 : Update Procedure
Never turn-off your TD-30 while the update is in progress!
- After turning the TD-30 off, connect the USB Memory to the "USB MEMORY port".
- Hold down the [USB MEM] button and turn on TD-30.
Continue to hold down [USB MEM] until the message "Please Wait..." appears. - A confirmation screen will be displayed after a short time.
* Verify that the screen indicates each version of Prog1, Prog2 and Prog3, and the three versions are the same. - Push the [ USB MEM ] button to start the update process. If you decide to stop the update, turn TD-30 off.
* The update process will be done within about two minutes. Never turn TD-30 off during the process. - When the message "Update Completed." appears, the update has finished.
- Turn the TD-30 off.
- Detach the USB Flash Memory, then turn the TD-30 on and verify that the version has been updated.
Step 6 : Restoring the Factory Settings (F RESET)
- Press the [ SETUP ] button.
The [SETUP] button will light, and the SETUP A screen will appear. - In the SETUP A screen, press the [ F4 ] (F RESET) button.
The FACTORY RESET screen will appear. - Press the [ F5 ] (F RESET) button.
A confirmation message will appear.
* If you decide to cancel the factory reset, press the [F1] (CANCEL) button. - Press the [ F5 ] (EXECUTE) button.
The factory reset will be executed.
The "AUTO OFF" FUNCTION screen will be displayed when the factory reset has been completed. - Turn the TD-30 off.
Step 7 : Loading Backup Data from a USB Flash Drive (LOAD)
- Turn on TD-30.
- Connect a USB memory to the "USB MEMORY port".
- Press the [ USB MEM ] button.
The [USB MEM] button will light, and the USB MEMORY A screen will appear. - Press the [F2] (LOAD) button.
The USB LOAD screen will appear. - Use the [ - ] [ + ] buttons or the dial to select the backup data that you want to load.
- Press the [ F5 ] (LOAD) button.
A confirmation message will appear.
* If you decide to cancel, press the [F1] (CANCEL) button. - Press the [ F5 ] (EXECUTE) button.
The data will be loaded from the USB flash drive.
