TD-50 System Program (Ver.1.07)
How to know the version
The update procedure differs depending on the version currently in use. Before you start, check the system program version of your TD-50.
- Press [ SETUP ] to invoke the setup screen.
- Use the PAGE [ UP ] and [ DOWN ] buttons to access the page where the INFO icon is located (SETUP MENU 2).
- Press the [ F3 ] button to select the INFO icon.
- The current version appears on the display ("Program Version").
* If information other than Program Version is displayed, press the [ F1 ] button (PROGRAM). - Press the [ EXIT ] button to return to the DRUM KIT screen.

Getting the update file
Download td50_sys107.zip.
The downloaded file is an archive in zip format. After downloading it, expand the file. When expansion finishes, a folder named "td50_sys107" appears.
Contained inside "td50_sys107" are a td50_sys_v105 folder and a td50_sys_v107 folder.

Caution when performing the update
- Never apply this update data to any product other than the TD-50. This update data may destroy the data or system program of other products.
- Never power-off your TD-50 while the update is in progress!
If a power failure or similar accident occurs during the update process, the TD-50 won’t be able to start up in normal operating mode. This will require servicing, so you will need to contact Roland service center near you if this occurs. - We regret that we are unable to answer questions regarding the update procedure using this system program. Please perform the update responsibly, following the directions given in this document.
Backing Up to SD Card
--- Before updating, carry out a data backup. ---
- Turn on TD-50.
- Insert the SD Card into the TD-50's SD card slot.
- Press the [SD CARD] button.
- Use the PAGE [UP] [DOWN] buttons to access the SD CARD BACKUP ALL screen.
- Press the [F1] (SAVE) button.
The SD CARD SAVE <BACKUP ALL> screen appears. - Move the cursor to "With User Sample" and insert a check mark.
- Move the cursor to "Bank Number" and choose a backup number for saving the settings.
- Press the [F5] (SAVE) button.
- Press the [F5] (EXECUTE) button.
- Select "OK" and press the [ ENTER ] button.
The settings are saved in the SD card.

Creating the Update SD Card
Update Procedure - Updating to TD-50 Version 1.05
- Copy all folders and files in the td50_sys_v105 folder to the SD card's root directory (the level immediately on accessing the SD card).
* Do not copy the "td50_sys_v105" folder. - Disconnect the SD Card from your computer as follows.
[ Windows ]
Use the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the Windows task tray to un-mount the SD Card. And then disconnect the SD Card from your computer.
[ Mac ]
Drag the Drive icon of the SD Card into the trash in the dock. And then remove the SD Card from your computer.
Update Procedure - Updating to TD-50 Version 1.05
- Insert the SD Card into the TD-50's SD card slot.
- Power on while holding the Song Record button [ • ].
- When "update" appears at the top left of the display, you can release the Song Record button.
The update process takes approximately 2 minutes. - " = update finished.= " appears in the display when the update process is complete.
- Turn off the power and then eject the SD card from the TD-50.
- Delete the following update-use folder and files from the SD card.
- wave folder
- _TD50_UPA.BIN
- td50_ext_exec.bin
Next, carry out "Updating to TD-50 Version 1.07."
Updating to TD-50 Version 1.07 - If you're using Version 1.05 or Version 1.06
Creating the Update SD Card
Update Procedure - Updating to TD-50 Version 1.07
- Copy the TD50_UPA.BIN file from within the td50_sys_v107 folder to the root directory on the [TD-50 formatted] SD card.
After transferring the file, you should see both the Roland folder and the TD50_UPA.BIN file together on the card.
(Note: Do not place the .BIN file inside the Roland folder.) - Disconnect the SD Card from your computer as follows.
[ Windows ]
Use the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the Windows task tray to un-mount the SD Card. And then disconnect the SD Card from your computer.
[ Mac ]
Drag the Drive icon of the SD Card into the trash in the dock. And then remove the SD Card from your computer.
Update Procedure - Updating to TD-50 Version 1.07
- Insert the SD Card into the TD-50's SD card slot.
- Power on while holding the Song Record button [ • ].
- When "update" appears at the top left of the display, you can release the Song Record button.
The update process takes approximately 2 minutes. - " = update finished.= " appears in the display when the update process is complete.
- Turn off the power and then eject the SD card from the TD-50.
- Detach the SD Card, then turn the TD-50 on and verify that the version has been updated.
Restoring the Factory Settings
- Press the [SETUP] button.
- Use the PAGE [UP] [DOWN] buttons to access the SETUP MENU 3 screen.
- Press the [F1] (FACTORY RESET) button.
- Move the cursor to "Reset with User Sample" and insert a check mark.
- Press the [F5] (FACTORY RESET) button.
- Select "OK" and press the [ ENTER ] button.
The "Factory Reset" operation will be executed.
Loading Backup Data from an SD Card
- Turn on TD-50.
- Insert the SD Card into the TD-50's SD card slot.
- Press the [SD CARD] button.
- Use the PAGE [UP] [DOWN] buttons to access the SD CARD BACKUP ALL screen.
- Press the [F2] (LOAD) button.
The SD CARD LOAD <BACKUP ALL> screen appears. - Move the cursor to "With User Sample" and insert a check mark.
- Move the cursor to "Bank Number" and choose the backup number for importing the settings.
- Press the [F5] (LOAD) button.
- Select "OK" and press the [ ENTER ] button.
The backup data is loaded from the SD card.
To use added preset kit data, use the KIT COPY function to import the desired preset kit data.
